Last Saturday was quite an inspiring and memorable day in my life.
It was the day my dad, who is now two years away from his retirement, obtained an MBA at the age of 58.
The two year journey towards this achievement was never a cakewalk. Being a responsible employee at workplace & a caring father / husband at home, he had a lot to manage in between late nights, early mornings and other sacrifices made to fulfil this dream.
Two years ago, when he was 56, I asked him the meaning of starting an MBA program because I felt like its too late to earn a qualification and to focus on career progression. The answer was a simple one.
“There is no age limit for learning. If you have the willingness and the correct attitude to learn something, age becomes just a number.”
I wanted to share this message mainly since people think being old is an excuse not to learn something new, not to explore new avenues. But there are people in this world who swim upstream, who challenge the conventional wisdom. I am genuinely happy and proud that my dad became one of the latter.
